Antique Oak Dutch Bombe Linen Press
Antique Oak Dutch Bombe Linen Press
A late 19th-century Dutch linen press in oak, with the generous swelling bombe base that this kind of Dutch cabinetmaking is known for. Standing 240cm tall, it is a statement piece for a bedroom, landing or hallway, with plenty of room for linen, clothes or anything else you'd like to keep out of sight.
The oak has softened to a warm, mellow tone over more than a century of use. This is a true one-off: once it's gone, it's gone.
Condition
As you'd expect from a piece of this age, it carries honest signs of its history. It's sturdy and sound, but there are some small gaps in the joints and boards that have opened naturally over the years. The doors and drawers all work, though not as smoothly as when new. The cupboard doors open and close by hand, and there is no key.
Delivery
The press comes apart into sections and goes back together easily, which makes delivery and getting it into place much simpler than its size suggests.
